Svärdsjö canal

It started as a dream, and so it still is! This 6 to 7 kilometers long and 14 feet wide log canal between Ågsjön and Svärdsjön in eastern Dalecarlia.
Instead of this canal log flumes were built along the Åg creek and Isala creek. The flumes were used between 1869 and 1889 and afterwards the flumes were demolished and the creeks returned to their natural shapes.
The history about Svärdsjö canal and log flumes has been written by Lars Magnusson former administrator of the forests in the area.
