Kvillebäck canal
During the 19th century the Kvillebäcken creek outlet in Göta River was canalized to simplify transports to the industries along the creek. The outlet was were Frihamnen is today.
Much of this canal has disappeared as Frihamnen has expanded. Upstreams even more of it has disappeared as the town has expanded and the old industries has moved.
Kvillebäcken is one of the longest bifurgations in Sweden. A bifurcation is a creek or river with outlets in two different directions. One of Kvillebäcken's outlets is in Göta River in the south and the other in Nordre River to the north. So, you can if you want, say that Kvillebäcken divids the island Hisingen in two islands!
