Klämman lock

The lock was built in 1826.

Klämman is a lock that regulates the water level in lake Asplången. There is a difference in water level only when lake Asplången is at high levels, ususally only in early spring.
Anyway, all boats have to pass the lock even though the gates are fully opened.
For big canal ships going east this is the most difficult lock to sail through.
Coming from east the canal bends slightly right before the lock. than slightly left and finally before the lock slightly right again.
This makes it hard to make the final turn at exactly the right moment.
The result is often that the boat roughly touches first one of the walls and then the other wall.
