Idyllic mill-village
with long tradition
Lennartsfors is an idyllic industrial community at the northern end of lake Lelång. The rapids between lake Stora Le and Lelång are called Ränkeforsen and there was a watermill here in the 16th century. From the 17th century also a waterdrivven sawmill.
In early times several works were founded here among them several used iron ore taken from the bottom af the lakes and in 1826 the village got privilage as a factory community. The name Lennartsfors is from 1839 and it comes from Mr Lennart Uggla, who together with Gustaf Ekman founded iron works here.
These works produced a lot of different things like boats, mortars, casseroles, pans, spittoons, treshers and much more. However these works were closed in 1877.
Today the industrial tradition is still alive in the village as Lennartsfors Verkstads AB manufacturing all kinds of machinery for wood works.
