Dalsland canal

Churches along Daland canal

Dalsland is a province of lakes, rivers and forests. Through all ages these waters have been used for transport and that also long before the canal was built.
The people here built their churches as close to water as possible to make it easy for as many as possiblble to get there.
Here is pictures of three churches, but there are several more that is built close to the water and several of them have bridges for the guests too.
Do visit the beautiful church at Vårvik built in 1845 on a tiny island in lake Western Silen. This island was not connected to the mailnad until 1900.
