Dalsland canal

The lock in Buterud

The lock in Buretyd is one of only two in Dalsland canal that are still manouvered by hand. The elevations is about 0,8 meter between lake Åklång and lake Råvarp.
The whole area is very interesting and those who are in good condition are recommended to walk up to the top of Buterud hill to see the beautiful view.

We are inside the chamber and the gate behind us is manually closed.

During lockage.

Lockage finished and lower gate opened.
