Dalsland canal

The Båtdragar canal through Baldersnäs

Through the istmus Baldersnäs there is a canal.
This canal is about 200 meter long and between 1 and 2 meters wide. Signs on each side of the canal informs that the depth is 0,4 meter.
The canal was probably built by Carl Fredrik Waern, owner of Baldersnäs in the 19th century. It was used when the owners wanted to row from one side of the istmus to the otrher, but did not want to row around teh whole istmus.
The pedastrian bridge at the western part of the canal was most likely built at the same time as the canal and the bridge at the eastern part of the canal is built in modern times.
