The stream between Övre (Upper) and Nedre (Lower) Tokevatn in Telemark was canalized in 1866 to allow steamertraffic and timber floating between the two lakes.
The steamertraffic started in 1866 and in 1927 it was replaced by a dieselpowered boat. In 1955 the dieselboat was replaced by a tug that was used until 1971.
