Between Sørfjorden and Kranfjorden, just west of Risør, there is a dredged canal for small crafts between the two fjords. The depth is 2,7 meter. A roadbridge crosses the canal with a free height of 2,5 meter.

History:
Canalworks were performed in Risørsundet between the town Risør and the island Barmen in 1865.
