The Hesnes canal

This is a canal between Osterkilen and Berstelkilen for small crafts. This is in the old Fjære municipality east of Grimstad.
The canal was opened for traffic in 1883 and it was dug 1,2 meters deep at low waters.
There are two bridges crossing the canal. The free height is 2,5 meter and the canal is 4 meter wide. The depth by low water is 0,4 meter at the northern bridge.
