Kuuva canal
Kuuvan kanava

Kuvva canal is the most northen located canal in Finland. It is in Enare county in the most northeastern part of the lake Enare Träsk. It is a few meters wide and about 200 meters long.
Today it's mainly used by canoes and local fishermen.
The canal was dug at the start of the 20th century by Matti Kuuva, a local man. He did all the work himself with a spade as the only tool. He dug the canal as he wanted a shortcut to save more then 10 kilometers on his tours around the lake.
Enare county plans to restore the historical canal.
